The Value Index

Value, indexed.
Life, measured.

The Value Index puts the two measures that matter most on one meter: the quality of a person's life and the quality of a business — each scored where it stands today against where it can be. The gap between today and possible is the opportunity, and it is built out of elements.

The elements

LTV is money over time. V is life over time.

Businesses run on CAC over lifetime value — the monetary value received from a person across time. That is one side of the coin. The other side, the blind spot, is what the person received: life, across the same time. VIEW scores both, on elements.

What the business sees

LTV = moneytime

Acquisition cost against monetary value received over time. Precise, well instrumented — and entirely one-directional. It measures what came back to the business and nothing about what went out.

The blind spot

V = lifetime

For the customer, value is not money received — it is life moved, across the time they gave you. Eight elements make up life. Five elements make up the time. Score them and the other side of the coin becomes visible.

Elemental VIEW

One record for life. One record for business.

The Value Index scores both sides on the same meter: the quality of a person's life and the quality of a business — each measured where it stands today against where it can be. The gap is the opportunity.

The denominator

Five elements of time.

Time is not one number. It is spent in five distinct ways, and each one is a place value can be created or destroyed.

01

Attention

The first spend. Attention is borrowed, never given, and it is the cheapest thing a business can waste.

02

Interaction

Every exchange of signal between the two sides. Interaction is where the weights are actually learned.

03

Action

Movement taken by the person outside the transaction. Action is proof that the value registered.

04

Transaction

The moment value crosses in both directions. The narrowest slice of time, and the only one most businesses measure.

05

Engagement

Time given repeatedly and willingly. Engagement is the compounding term — it is what makes the exchange multiply.

Your blind spot is somebody else's whole life.

We give a business the other side of its own coin: what the customer received, in elements, over the same time it measured its own return.
