Purpose
Is my life pointed at something?
Direction and meaning. The element that decides whether movement on every other element feels like progress or noise.
The elements / Quality of life
For a business, value is money received over time. For a customer, value is life — and life is not one number either. These are the eight elements the life index scores: where a person stands today on each, against where they could stand.
Value = Life / Time
Is my life pointed at something?
Direction and meaning. The element that decides whether movement on every other element feels like progress or noise.
Do I know what I need to know?
What a person understands, and what they can learn next. Knowledge closes gaps that money alone cannot.
Is my body and mind able?
Physical and mental capacity. The multiplier under every other element — when health falls, everything else is discounted.
Is my work going somewhere?
Contribution, standing and trajectory in the work a person does. Not the job title — the slope.
Do I live the way I want to live?
The daily texture of a life: where, how, with what freedom, at what pace. The element most often traded away silently.
Who is on the other side of my life?
Family, friends, community. The most under-measured element in commerce, and the one that predicts the rest.
Do my resources cover my life?
Money as a means, not a score. Measured against the life it is meant to fund, not against a market average.
What do I give back?
Value returned to others. The element that turns a customer into a creator of customers.
The denominator
A customer spends time before they ever spend money. Five elements of time make up the denominator of V — and each one is a place the exchange either created value or took it.
The first spend. Attention is borrowed, never given, and it is the cheapest thing a business can waste.
Every exchange of signal between the two sides. Interaction is where the weights are actually learned.
Movement taken by the person outside the transaction. Action is proof that the value registered.
The moment value crosses in both directions. The narrowest slice of time, and the only one most businesses measure.
Time given repeatedly and willingly. Engagement is the compounding term — it is what makes the exchange multiply.
Every life element is met by something the business must actually be able to do. That is the quality of business index.
